A few days ago I took my parents to a doctor’s appointment. The facility was rather large compared to several in the area. Her appointment was on the ninth floor, so to monitor her travels it was best to ride the elevator. However, after the appointment I needed to get a few questions answered in the facility on two different floors.
Well, my daughter wanted to accompany me to the first stop, the twelfth floor. Her suggestion was the elevator; my suggestion stairs. She won! Only because I realized I had to go back to her because she had a document that I needed.
Now to the next floor. I told her that no matter what I was going down the stairs from the ninth floor and I would meet her.
I took one step at a time, glad that I was doing something other than an elevator. Just counted the floors awaiting to see the 1st floor. Three, two and…NO one? Yep, you read it right, the stairs ended at the second floor. The first floor was not included in my travels, and I had to get on the elevator to get to my daughter and parents. I was disappointed that my travels ended on the second floor, but glad at the same time I did go down a few stairs, eight flights.
In the end, it was the next step I needed in making smart choices.
