Day 8: Support

On October 26, 2013, my family and I accomplished the goal of making others aware of dementia and walking at the Nation’s Capital for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.  Once we completed the 3.1 mile walk, I immediately posted a huge thank you to all of our SUPPORTers, family and friends, who donated in the name of my father.   Having those who understood our cause is heart warming.  It was not even the amount that they donated, it was just the fact that they wanted to demonstrate their care through this fundraiser for more research.

sup·port

/səˈpɔrt, -ˈpoʊrt/

10. the act or an instance of supporting.
11. the state of being supported.
12. something that serves as a foundation, prop, brace, or stay.
13. maintenance, as of a person or family, with necessaries, means, or funds: to pay for support of an orphan.
14. a person or thing that supports, as financially: The pension was his only support.
World English Dictionary…
6. to give aid or courage to
7. to give approval to (a cause, principle, etc); subscribe to: to support a political candidature
In the instance of looking at the word support, the family and friends understood that their donation was giving support, foundation or maintenance to the cause of ending Alzheimer’s  and dementia.  The action that they did will help the sixth leading cause of death for many.  This is what makes the emails, letters, and posts worth the effort.  So in response to the thank you on October 26th, a video of what the walk entailed has been prepared.
Please enjoy…
