Day 13: Belaboring Over Your Business/Blog

With so many businesses/blogs that are currently viable online can be intimidating.  The question you need to ask yourself is ., “Are your belaboring over your own business/blog?”

be•la•bor (bɪˈleɪ bər)
v.t.

1. to explain, worry about, or work at unduly
LadydisconnectedcomputerWorrying over what will and will not work, identifying who will be working with you and who will not and stretching yourself thin in the sense to work “unduly (excessively)” is not the way to run a blog or business.  In  order to ensure you are not belaboring over your business/blog, it will be important to outline the task that you want to complete, monitor the amount of time that you are writing your posts, creating new material, answering email and the list can go one.  Keeping track of the duties that you have as the entrepreneur will be necessary.  It is healthy to work with vigor, but to work harder than your return of investment is what you need to evaluate.  You can’t work all the time and not bee happy.  You must fine balance.  And that is what belaboring is about.
If you are belaboring over YOUR CAUSE?  Think about these items to make change to make sure that you are not forgetting about your audience:
  • Look at your numbers-  The numbers do not have to be about money, even this is a good direction to look if you are a growing business.  However, you can look at your statistics.  The amount of visitors.  What are they reading the most and where they are your audience is coming from.
  • Need a partner–  Are you able to make a list of items that can be accomplished by another person, such as an assistant.  Consider a virtual assistant. However, look at your numbers (money and clientele) to see if this is feasible.
  • Revamp your goals– This may be the toughest of them all.  You may be working too hard toward nothing.  If you have a goal for one thing and you have diverted and are aiming toward something different (not YOUR CAUSE), there needs to be a change.  You may have to revisit what you want to do and then, make some necessary changes.
Your CAUSE is what you are doing this blog/business for and that is what needs to be on the right track.  Then you know that your work is not in vain and you are living a healthy lifestyle.

  1. Good information! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Great advice! A lot of times, people do not realize they are losing money by doing some tasks themselves. If they were outsourced to a VA, that would free them up to do the main tasks of the business. Getting g good VA can relieve you of doing bookkeeping and other things!

    Thanks.
