file000470994971You and your friends are really winding down from the holiday’s, but there is still a little excitement left from the holiday’s where you want to go out with friends and still eat out. It’s almost as if you are rekindling your friendships and forming new ideas. You are growing…

One thing that you need to keep in mind is that you don’t want to grow your waistline by continuously eating the holiday foods or even preparing more of the holiday foods for fun. Though this is one of the challenges that you face, let’s look at five other challenges that you may face after the holidays.

1. The Health Foods Challenge
2. The Fitness Challenge
3. The Faith Challenge
4. The Resolution Challenge
5. The Lonely Challenge

The Health Foods Challenge is one that hits really hard after the holidays so here are a few pointers that should help you as you face the new year.

Look in your cabinet and take inventory of what you have. Look at each shelf and truly take everything off of the shelves. Look at the sodium count, the additives and artificial flavoring and colors. What is the caloric intake per serving? As yourself the question: Is this the direction that you want to begin the year?

Looking in your food pantry will take time, but you will have to take a sheet of paper out and really decide what canned foods you want to have, snacks, canned meat and more.

  1. I never thought of doing this ritual, but I know if I tried it – the partner would snap! He loves his “junk food” and that’s where we don’t mix.

    • Having children in the home or even preparing for an event with these foods can bring the “unwanted” additives and calories in…I believe we all face the challenges, but you can still take the inventory without throwing things out. This activity will still help you identify what’s really in the pantry…it’s in the knowing what’s in the pantry. Have a great New Year!

  2. I like the idea of approaching this task from a “challenge” standpoint. For some reason when I issue myself a challenge, I tend to be successful in completing it. Thanks for sharing. I will definitely take your advice.
