A song comes on the radio and you start to hum, then your children begin to sing along with the artist and your husband decides to chime in. That is the most exciting part about family. No matter the type of event or travel that you are on, if everyone is in the car and a song that everyone recognizes plays it can be such a jovial moment.
Music is the connection to so many things that we do daily. Music is known for connecting people from different backgrounds together, gatherings for a social event and workshop breaks, and you could probably give more example. Ultimately, music can do wonders for the mind, body and soul. The neat thing is that when I am with my dad as we ride to our destination(s) he just hums, claps or even tries to sing, and at times we have to laugh, because he will even sing “new” words which match another song. As we know there is always something about music that tends to have similarities to something else.
There have been studies which point out that people with Alzheimer’s or dementia enjoy music. Even with those who lack verbal communication, music tends to help them communicate more. Researches find it important that music is the only stimuli around so that patients do not get agitated. Positively, my dad enjoys talking to me about the past and tries to communicate about what he sees in our travels. However, it is good to know that music is what many patients with neurological disorders enjoy and allows them to find their wonderful moment.
