“3 Steps To Help You Learn About Self, Give To Others!”

Walking for a Cause is about learning about yourself and giving to others. This life that we are gifted is to be lived in a way to encourage ourselves and family to take a deeper look at three areas of our life, fitness, healthy eating (food) and Faith. Throughout each week there will be blog posts about each of these areas giving you the empowerment to reach beyond your wildest dreams and goals.  I will be sharing my own personal journey of walking, but let you know that you are not alone in the challenge of living a healthy lifestyle. I want the experience alone of Walking for a Cause to be rewarding.  I want it to make that challenge of getting off of the couch or making that food choice in the store easier.

Imagine a wife expecting her husband to return from a meeting that he had attended in the same place and at the same time for over 25 years. In a moment of just one phone call, she learned that he was lost, and when he pulled over to ask an attendant, he was 90 miles from home.

This is a true story that my family experienced four years ago. Each day, has been a learning experience for my mom and our entire family. The man who is my father continues to have much joy, but not the same memory. The impact of this disease is often difficult to comprehend. Here’s a fact: According to the Alzheimer’s Association, currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s’ or dementia with an expectancy of growth to 16 million in 2050. Also, it is currently the 6th leading cause of death.

Although Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia is the primary cause for Walking for a Cause, I will take other journeys that will include activities in hopes you will join me in Walking and my 5K Path to a healthier lifestyle.  Remember, my walk or cause is to help not just our family, but to help millions.
